Fireside with Madhav Prasad Ghimire
8:22 AMThe search for the missing former Home Minister, Madhav Prasad Ghimire, along with his two brothers resumed this morning at Dahrechowk VDC –3, Ghoptebhir along the Prithvi Highway, where a jeep they were travelling in fell into the Trishuli river below on Sunday evening. Chief District Office, Binod Prakash Singh, said the search had continued until 1:30 am and resumed at 5:30 am again. He said hook anchor and magnets were being used to search for the missing jeep and the missing persons but without any results as yet. A lighting tower has been kept in constant use through help of a generator. CDO Singh said a Nepal Army (NA) Disaster Management battalion team has also been mobilized to help in the rescue effort. The NA personnel along with Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been continuing their search at the site of the incident. The Armed Police Disaster Management Training Centre team has also been helping in the search for the missing former Home Minister and his family members. The search is continuing despite the murky river condition and high current. The former Home Minister along with his brothers Prakash and Mohan Ghimire are still unaccounted for while the dead bodies of their mother, Chaitanya Kumar Ghimire, 80, security guard Armed Police Sub Inspector, Ram Chandra Karki, and nephew, Narayan Kafle, have been recovered. The Scorpio jeep (Ba 9 Cha 1531) en route to Kathmandu from Muktinath had plunged around 150 metres downhill into the raging river. The jeep driver police head constable, Bishnu Rai, was injured in the mishap. He is receiving treatment at the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur.
